For this first reaction, we can observe that there is a 2:1 ratio for NO3 and NO2.

It is evident that NO is produced in two separate occasions in the process of consuming NO3.

Therefore, if the rate of consumption of NO is 2.2 x105

Then: 1/5 the rate of production of O gives us 4.4 x105

The conversion if the recycle is shut off:

The proceeding reaction would be as follows: 

O2: NO is 2: 1

NOis consumed at the rate of rate of 2.3 mill per minute

Product of O would also be 2.3 per minute

The conversion would be 2.3 per mil per minute
