Q. Find energy of each of the photons which:-

(i) correspond to light of frequency 3 x 10^15 Hz.

(ii) Have wavelength of 0.50A

Expert's answer

The energy of photon can be written as

E = hν/c = hc/ λ, where h -is a Planck constant, c - the speed of the light, ν - the frequency, λ - the wavelength.

(i) E = 6.62 x 10^{-34} * 3 x 10^{15} / 3 x 10^{8} = 6.62 x 10^{-27} J.

(ii) E = 6.62 x 10^{-34} *3 x 10^{8} /0.5 x 10^{-10} = 3.972 x 10^{-15} J.

E = hν/c = hc/ λ, where h -is a Planck constant, c - the speed of the light, ν - the frequency, λ - the wavelength.

(i) E = 6.62 x 10

(ii) E = 6.62 x 10
