Answer to Question #12640 in Inorganic Chemistry for ray allen

Question #12640
3. Suppose you pour 20 mL of silver nitrate into a beaker with 80 mL of water (H20) in it. You also pour 20 mL of silver nitrate into a separate beaker, but this one contains 80 mL of salt water (NaCl). Is the percent strength of the silver nitrate the same in both of these solutions
Expert's answer
No,cause in that beaker with salt water you have extra Cl- ions, which can react
with silver nitrate

AgNO3 + NaCl = AgCl (not soluble compound) +

so in that beaker which is without salt water percent and
concentration of AgNO3 is higher
