Answer:

First we should know the word “typosquatting” by defining it in a short sentences.

Def. typosquatting is a form of cyber crime that involves  hackers registering domains with  deliberately misspelled names of well- known websites e.g. gooole.com instead of goole.com.

We have understood the word it is a threat in the technological world like this generation we are in now.

It has created confusions everywhere whether in some business companies , banks and many other places.

Preventions of typosquatting in companies:

1.Companies must monitor registration activity every now and then.

2.Use a tool such as DNS twister to generate a list of currently active domains in order to suspect an unknown domain trying to intrude in.

3.The companies must buy domain same as theirs and to purchase them before others swoop in.

How to overcome Typosquattingf

If you think a domain name has been registered with blantent intent to intentionally confuses users, as a trade mark holder-Launch a uniform Rapid Suspension (URS) complaint.

Reason for finding it difficulty in stopping typosquatting is –that most of typosquatters use automated tools to register hundreds or thousands of domains within a short period of time.

They noted that very quickly domain names which fail to generate any traffic are dumped.

The proactive  steps that the all companies should take

1.The companies should make sure that they train their users to be on lockout for traps in order to prevent typosquatting threats.

2.The company should register its domain ,trademark and extension differently to minimize this threats.

3.The company should use anti-spoofing and secure email technology.Anti-spoofing is a technique for identifying and dropping packets that have a false source address. In a spoofing attack,the source address of an incoming packet is changed to make it appear as if it is coming from a known, trusted source.
