A multinational company opens multiple branches all over that Pakistan. If you are hired to design the networking from the company, what type of network you will select? What type of network topology will be suitable for the linking different branches or different department inside the single company branch? List down the network equipment you may require during this implementation.

The most suitable type of network is the Wide Area Network (WAN). A WAN connects networks over a large geographical area.

Mesh network topology is the most appropriate topology of choice for interconnecting the branches. A mesh topology will enhance reliability. Network failure in one of the branches will ensure that traffic will be routed via an alternate route and get to the destination. On the other hand, linking the various departments in a branch would prefer using star topology. This is because multiple devices are connected to a single switch forming a star topology.

Network equipment used for the implementation

Routers- to interconnect the various branch networks

Switches – to interconnect devices within a branch

Firewalls – to enhance security at the entry point of each branch towards the corporate WAN

Wi-Fi access points – To enable employees with Wi-Fi-capable devices such as tablets, smartphones, and laptops to access the network via a wireless connection.
