The image of white object is formed by the lens is usually colored and blurred this defect of image is called the chromatic abbreviation. It arises because because of the refractive index of the lens material are varies with the color of light.

Images formed by spherical mirrors are free from chromatic aberrations.

When two or more than two lenses are combined together, in such a way that the combination is free from the chromatic abbreviation then such a combination is called the achromatic abbreviation.
