Answer to Question #91882 in Molecular Physics | Thermodynamics for Farida

Question #91882
An ideal gas expands adiabatically to three times it's original volume.in doing so,the gas does 720joules of work..How much heat flows from the gas and what is the change in internal energy of the gas and does it's temperature rise or fall?

As is known, the adiabatic process occurs without the exchange of heat with the environment. Heat does not go away.

"Q=0"

The first law of thermodynamics for an adiabatic process

"-\\Delta U=A"

"\\Delta U =-720 (J)"

Internal energy decreases. Temperature decreases
