Thegases are compressible because their molecules are far apart. There is a lot of
space between molecules, so there is an opportunity to move them much closer to
each other.
Molecules in liquids are much closer to each other so they can be compressed
just a little.

And it's impossible to compress solids because the molecules are already too
close.
