Answer to Question #67088 in Mechanics | Relativity for Ahmed

Question #67088
a snowborder is on the right edge of halfpipe, the snowborder experiences a tangential acceleration of 5.11 ft/s^2 and a total acceleration of 16.27 ft/s^2. knowing that the halfpipe has a radius of 20 ft, the tangential speed of the snowborder is equal.

Total acceleration
a ² = ar ² + at ²
ar = √(a ² ‒ at ²)
ar = √(( 16.27 ft / s ² ) ² ‒ ( 5.11 ft / s ² ) ²) = 15.45 ft / s 2
Since
ar = vt ² / R
vt = √(R x ar)
vt = √(20 ft x 15.45 ft / s ²) = 17.58 ft / s
