You would hear sounds before you saw the sights creating them. It is because the speed of light would be less than speed of sound. 
You can travel at “superluminal” speed: you can detect effects like Cerenkov radiation. This radiation, as you pointed out, comes from particles travelling at a speed greater than the speed of light in the medium in which they are moving.
