Answer on Mechanics | Relativity Question for Brittany

Question #5199
A car drives with a constant acceleration of 6.0 m/s2. If it begins with a velocity of 8.0 m/s, and travels a displacement of 120 m, how much time will this elapse?
Expert's answer
we use standard formula for motion with cinstant acceleration
S=S0+V0t+at2/2
120=8t+3t2
solving this equation we obtain
t1=5.13
t2=-7.8
as along as it's time it can't be negative
thus answer is t=5.13s
