A fluid refers to any substance that continuously deforms whenever an external force is applied because in fluids molecules not closely packed they move freely.

solids start to deform when external force is applied ,until a certain limit is attained ,for solids stress is directly proportional to strain while in fluids stress is directly proportional to strain rate.

A liquid has definite volume wile gas depends on the volume of the container in which they are put
