Answer to Question #16779 in Electricity and Magnetism for James Moore

Question #16779
f the speed of EM radiation is 300,000,000 m/s then what is the wavelength of radio waves used to transmit: 96.3 MHz (Radio Aire) 105.1 MHz (Capital FM) 909 KHz (Radio 5 Live) M = Mega = Million K = Kilo = Thousand Speed = Wavelength x Frequency

Please help me with this, im realy confused. Thanks! :)

We'll use the following formula to find the wavelength of radio waves:

& lambda; = V/f.

So,

& lambda;(Radio Aire) = 300000000[m/s]/96300000[Hz] ≈ 3.115[m];

& lambda;(Capital FM) = 300000000[m/s]/105100000[Hz] ≈ 2.854[m];

& lambda;(Radio 5 Live) = 300000000[m/s]/909000[Hz] ≈ 330.033[m].
