In p-type semiconductor acceptor atoms from group III are the impurities (boron, aluminium, gallium, indium). In n-type semiconductors there are impurities such as donors from group V (phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth). These impurities are needed to make a diode, for example, of two semiconductors with n- and p- conductivity.
