A 250V, 50Hz supply feeds the following loads (a) incandescent lamps taking a current of 6.5A at the unity power factor (b) flourescent lamps taking a current of 8A at the power factor of 0.9 leading; and (c) a motor taking a current of 15A at a lagging power factor of 0.625.
Determine:
i) the total current drawn from supply and the overall power factor
ii) the value of the power factor correction capacitor required to improve the overall power factor to unity. Provide circuit diagrams where possible.
