Question #1733

Given only a 30 Ohm and one 50 Ohm resister, list all possible values of resistance that can be obtained.

Expert's answer

You can connect them in two ways: in serial and parallel connection.

For serial: R_{ser} =R_{1} + R_{2} = 30 + 50 = 80 [Ohm]

For parallel: R_{par} = (R_{1}R_{2})/(R_{1} + R_{2}) = 18.75 [Ohm]

If only one resister is included into the chain, R_{1} = 30 [Ohm] and R_{2} = 50 [Ohm]

For serial: R

For parallel: R

If only one resister is included into the chain, R
