Ohm's Law - a statement about the direct proportionality between current in the conductor and potential difference.

Ohm's law is valid for metals and semiconductors with not too large potencial difference. If the element of electric circuit satisfies Ohm's law then we say that this element has a linear current-voltage characteristics.
Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance, one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship:
I=V/R
