Question

A couple consist of a pair of forces which are equal in magnitude but oppositely directed, the lines of action of the forces being parallel yet not coincident. A couple tends to rotate (but not translate) a rigid body on which it acts. Show that any system of forces acting on the body is equivalent to a single force acting on arbitrary point plus a couple !
