Force = charge * Electric field

electric field = Force/charge = "4.8*10^{17}\/1.6*10^{-19}=3*10^{36}N\/C"


the direction of the electric filed will be opposite to that of direction of Force as electric carries negative charge , Hence the direction of electric field will be in eastward direction


b) the magnitude of force acting on proton will be same as electron just the direction will be opposite as proton carries positive charge hence

force= "4.8*10^{17}N" in the eastward direction
