Answer to Question #65030 in Astronomy | Astrophysics for ella rose
In what ways are sound and light waves similar? In what ways are sound and light waves different?
Similarities: Both sound waves and light waves can experience interference due to superposition principle. Sound and light transmit the energy that travel in waves. They both have properties of waves: wavelength, frequency and amplitude. Differences: Sound waves require the medium, but light waves do not. The speed of light is higher than speed of sound. Sound waves are longitudinal waves. Light waves are transverse waves.
