Answer to Question #28495 in Astronomy | Astrophysics for Alex

Question #28495
We know the universe is 13.7 billion years old, is this the age of the Universe or just our observable universe. Space is most likely infinite, so how does infinite space have an age if its infinite to begin with. For example, something that is 47 billion light years away isnt 47 billion years old, since space is expanding and math can tell us that, averaged out with the expansion speed, the oldest objects can be IS 13.7 billion years old. But something that is outside our observable universe can be much much farther away from us, so it confuses me to think that with something so far away from us that the universe is STILL 13.7 billion years. Can i please have some clarification?
