Gravitational field is not limited to any particular distance. According to gravitational potential

"\\displaystyle U = \\frac{-GMm}{r}"

the body of mass m will experience the pull of galactic center with mass M. m can be on any possible distance from M, however, the magnitude of the force may be low.

The more important thing is the influence of other objects' gravity. For example, there are some intergalactic stars attracted by nearby galaxy. This happens not because the gravity of Milky Way galactic center doesn't work on stars 15kpc away from it, but rather there is more massive galactic center nearby with bigger gravitational force.
