Answer to Question #17313 in Astronomy | Astrophysics for Tom Hunnicutt

Question #17313
I understand that the mass of the earth distorts space by creating a "gravity" well and the moon orbits the earth as it is rotating about that depression created in space. How does that theory explain my personal experience of gravity (I jump up and I come down) on Earth. I'm not orbiting a depression of space created by a heavy object. It would seem that I experience gravity as Newton described it as an invisible force that attracts objects, the one with the largest mass has the largest attractive force, so I drop to earth as did the apple.
