Vernal equinox occurs on the 20th of March for Northern hemisphere and 22nd of September for Southern hemisphere when the Sun passes though the celestial equator. It is a point of intersection of celestial equator with ecliptics. On vernal equinox, the duration of day and night is the same across the globe.
