Answer on Trigonometry Question for Mayank

Question #32587
A vertical tower is 20 m high. A men standing at some distance from the
tower knows that the cosine of the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 0.53
.How far is he standing from the froot of the tower ?
Expert's answer
The distance between the man and the tower and the tower itself are legs of right triangle. Therefore
distance=height*cotan(angle)
angle=cos^-1(0.53)=approximately 58 degrees.
So we obtain distance=height*cotan(angle)=20*cotan(58)=12.5m
