Answer to Question #18696 in Statistics and Probability for sada

Question #18696
Active eye Placebo eye Active - placebo eye
mean +/- sd mean +/- sd mean +/- sd
Change in average redness score: -0.61 +/- 0.7 -0.04 +/- 0.68 -0.57 +/- 0.86

For the table above, suppose I want to estimate the number of participants needed in this study so there will be a 90% chance of finding a significant different using a two-sided test with a significance level of 0.05. Also , the active eyes have a mean redness score of 0.5 unit less than that of the placebo eyes. How many participants are needed in this study?

I'm trying to use the power law formula to obtain n but im not sure of this is the right way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
