i) A nonlinear equation is defined as an equation possessing at least one term that is raised to a power of 2 or more. When graphed, these equations produce curved lines. Some real-world examples of nonlinear systems include: the trajectory of planets movement, electromagnetic radiation etc., because in this cases these processes have equation of non-linear curves.

ii) Linear equations are those which make straight lines when graphed. Real life examples include: calculating wages based on an hourly pay rate, calculating medicine doses based on patients' weights, because in these case if the weight or number of hours worked increase, the wage or dose increase linearly by the same amount per every adding.
