# Answer on Algebra Question for Kathleen

Question #6078

The maximum speed of the X-15A-2 jet is 4,534 mi per hour. How long would it take this jet to travel the 2.787 mi from Los Angeles to New York if it is traveling at it's maximum speed? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Expert's answer

Time is found from the formula time=distance/speed if object is travelling at the constant speed(as in our case)

so T = 2.878 / 4.534 = 0.6 hours

so T = 2.878 / 4.534 = 0.6 hours
