I would like to know if there is another method that exist to get the answer to this proportion problem below.
(y – 1)/(x+3)=3/4

4(y - 1) = -3(x+3) The result of cross multiplying.
4y – 4 = -3x - 9 Distribute 4 on the left and -3 on the right.
4y – 4 + 4 = -3x – 9 +4 add 4 from both sides
4y =-3x- 5 Divide both sides by 4

y= -3x - 5 or y =-3x-5
