The decimal for 4 and five eighths is equal 4+ 5 divided by 8. Thus if we know that 5 divided by 8 = 0.625 than we need to add 4
4+0.625=4.625

You need to write the decimal for 4 and 5/8, so we have a mixed number 4 5/8. Obviously 4 5/8=4+5/8 You're given that 5 divided by 8 = 0.625, hence to find required number we ought to add 4 to 0.625. Therefore, the answer is 4+0.625=4.625
