i) Spalling reinforcement

Spalling stresses form behind the loaded region of anchor blocks, causing surface concrete to break away. Strain incompatibility with Poisson's effects or the form of stress trajectories causes these stresses.

(ii) Equilibrium reinforcement

Equilibrium reinforcement is necessary when prestressing loads are applied sequentially to several anchorages.

(iii) Bursting Reinforcement

During the prestressing process, tensile stresses are generated, and the highest bursting stress occurs when the stress trajectories are concave towards the load's line of action. To withstand these lateral tensile stresses, reinforcement is required.
