1. Starting from the need, write a note on the life cycle of a common product that you use regularly. (Omit the technical details that are beyond your comprehension)

One of the products I used regularly is my phone and the way a phone is made is first having the materials extracted such as silicon, metal, gold, plastics. And the phone manufacturing process the raw material for it to be usable and workable. And if the materials needed are complete manufacturing is next, manufacturing the circuit board the house of the phone, the screen, and all the other stuff. Then the phones are packaged and transported to the users such as me. The phone spends its life being used by me either by chatting with a friend or playing games or just for anything. Then the phone will come to its end of life where the phone will be in the trash where the collector will salvage usable parts to sell it to the manufacturers again to be recycled and be used again to make brand new phones. But other phones are not recycled and are completely disposed of as trash where the incinerator burns the materials.

2. List the different disciplines/branches of engineering the combined efforts of which result in the successful design and development of some commonly used products/services. Relate them to the components.

Commonly used products and services are the product of the collaboration of different branches of engineering such as making a tooth-paste. Chemical Engineers formulate a recipe for an effective toothpaste and they are the ones that quality controls if the produced product is safe and effective. While the Mechanical Engineers selected and maintains the machines used to produce tooth-paste, they also maintain proper safety guidelines to prevent accidents in working in the facility with big machinery, and they are the ones responsible for the piping work and ventilation of the facility. Then the Civil Engineers are the ones who build the facility and help construct the machine foundations for the heavy machinery, in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineers. The Electrical Engineer now helps the Civil Engineer to make the proper electrical wiring in the facility. The Industrial Engineers on the other hand formulates the plan on how to maximize the production of toothpaste and to increase the profit of the company. All these different Engineering Branches work together in order to produce a tooth-paste product that we use in our day-to-day lives.

3. What are all main hazards related to the oil and gas industry?

The main hazard related to oil and gas industries is dealing with high pressured machinery that could malfunction and if not properly maintained could explode, dangerous gases that could not be detectable they smell which the workers could inhale and be toxic, and fire hazards in dealing with flammable oil and gases. These are the things that are heavily checked and maintained in the workplace to prevent such accidents to happen. Accidents such as falling, vehicle collisions, or getting hit by a vehicle, and electrical accidents can also happen in dealing with the large oil and gas industry.

4. What are the benefits of occupational safety and health management system?

The benefits of occupational safety and health management system are having a standard of rules to follow. These standards are foundational to prevent accidents and avoid injuries in the workplace. Having a set of governing rules on what to do and not to do in a workplace is very crucial in making every process of the work safe. People's lives are very important so it is important to make the working environment safe and a secure place. In working environments dealing with hazardous chemicals or materials, there is a danger in the safety and health of the workers and without the workers being safe the production can be affected and compromised.
