-It is an industrial technical standard for data communication over industrial Ethernet maintained and supported by PROFIBUS and PROFINET International(PI). It is designed for collecting data from and controlling equipment in industrial systems with a particular strength in delivering data under tight time constraints.


Explain relevant standards and protocols used.

-PROFINET is standardized through the IEC 61158 and 61784 standards.

- PROFINET uses TCP/IP and IT standards.

- PROFINET was developed by Siemens and is used in conjunction with Siemens control system.
