Answer to Question #119860 in Electrical Engineering for Vinay

Question #119860
Suppose there is a FM radio receiver, where the whole system is heated up with time due to faulty circuit components.
i) What are the changes may occur in the system due to the changes in temperature? Explain.
ii) Draw and explain the effects on skewness and kurtosis in Gaussian distribution of thermal noise when there are changes in temperature in the FM radio receiver system.

i) The inductance and capacitance of the system may change because of thermal expansion and thermal structure changes in coils and capacitors. The system may stop working if the capacitors explode.

ii) The diagram is below:

As we see, the curve that represents the power required to support a signal at a given frequency will differ from Gaussian distribution. The asymmetry is characterized by skewness, the pike is characterized by the kurtosis.
