Answer to Question #173291 in Civil and Environmental Engineering for Dalitso

Question #173291

the difference in level between the top and bottom railway embartment was found to be 15.216m. the length og embankment was measured along its surface 25.214m using a steel tape under the pull of 25N at a temperature of 10°c if the tape was standardized on the flat at 20°c under a pull if 49°c , What is the embankment gradient?

Difference in embankment = 15.216m

Length of embankment = 25.214m

Pull = 25N

Temperature =10º c

If temperature is 20º c under a pull of 49ºc

The embankment gradient is:

25.214m – 15.216m = 9.998m

9.998m × 20º = 199.96

199.96 ÷ 49º

The answer is 4.081m
