A steam power plant operates on the Rankine cycle with superheat. The cycle consists of a boiler, a turbine and a pump. Superheated steam enters the turbine at 40 bar and 400oC. The steam leaves the turbine in a wet state. The wet steam is then condensed in the condenser at a pressure of 1.0 bar.
The isentropic efficiency of the turbine (expansion process) is 0.88. The isentropic efficiency of the pump (compression process) is 0.75.
You are required to: (a) Sketch a block diagram of the cycle. (the processes are to be numbered as: Boiler 4-1; Turbine 1-2; Condenser 2-3; Pump 3-4) (b) Sketch the cycle on a T-s diagram. (c) Determine the cycle efficiency, the work ratio and specific steam consumption.
