Answer to Question #146754 in Chemical Engineering for Sanjay Kumar jeengar

Question #146754
Q.4 A 50:50 mixtures (by mass) of ethanolamine (DEA)- triethanolamine (TEA) is distilled in a packed tower
to produce a 99% (by mass) DEA distillate product and 95% (by mass) TEA bottom product. To preclude
the thermal degradation of the amine solution, the absolute pressure in the reboiler must be limited to
1.33kPa (10 torr). The reflux ratio is 0.8 kmol/kmol distillate product. Compute the overall material and
energy balances for 10, 000 kg/h feed, assuming (i) no heat loss to the surroundings, and (ii) negligible
heat of mixing.
