Answer to Question #135674 in Chemistry for Lewis

Question #135674
1.Each Unia-Aspirin tablet contains 80mg of aspirin molecular weight 180.2 and to confirm compliance with the requirements of the contents a back titration with blank determination is done using sodium hydroxide was employed. The pharmacopeia acceptance criteria is that the tablet contains 95-105 %aspirin (1ml of 0.5 NaOH =0.4504 g of aspirin)
(a) state the need for a blank determination during titration
(b) how many moles of NaOH react with 1 mole of aspirin
(c) an aliquot of solution of Unia-Aspirin containing approximately 400 mg aspirin (equivalent weight of 5 tablets ) was titrated and titre found to be 9.3ml. A blank determination gave a titre of 0.4ml. Determine whether the product satisfies criteria of acceptance
