why add Ethanol in determination of chloride in crude oil? IP-77 Test method. because at second time also isoamylalcohol is added!

Isoamyl alcohol is slightly soluble in water, 28 g/L, very soluble in acetone, diethyl ether, ethanol. Ethanol improves solubility of demulsifier in extraction system, to prevent formation of additional phase.
