Answer to Question #96760 in Organic Chemistry for Tyr

Question #96760
Need help with my some of my prelab questions that i dont understand.

1. If the boiling points of two compounds differ by 60°C at atmospheric pressure, what will be the effect on the relationship by decreasing the pressure to 1mm (no number, just a general process)?

2. What will happen to the efficiency of a distillation if the distilling flask is more than half full?
If the flask is too full as the liquid boils some could splash/jump from the flask and collect in the still.

3. An HPLC was run on your two fractions from your distillation. What general type of column was used? Why did the toluene elute first?

4. The GC-MS chromatograms, first show your GC trace and the a MS is run on each component that is separated on the GC. In this case, the toluene elutes first on the GC. Why?
