Answer to Question #65458 in Organic Chemistry for susan Guido

Question #65458
in an acid-base extraction lab, we had to separate a mixture containing three organic compounds, organic acid (m-toluic acid), one is a base (benzocaine), and the third is a neutral compound (acetanilide). The mixture is 6.00 grams. In our next lab, I need to calculate the percent recovered. I know the formula is the weight of compound recovery/weight of compound used x 100%. For the weight of compound used do I use 6 grams or can I assume that each compound was represented equally (6/3) and the amount of compound used was 2 grams.
