Beryllium is active metal enough that it react with acids. Example simple reaction: Be(s) + 2HCl(aq) = BeCl2(aq) + H2(g). But it does not react with oxidizing acids such as nitric acid or concentrated sulfuric acid at room temperature because its surface is passivated by the formation layer of BeO.
