Answer to Question #36853 in Organic Chemistry for bhawna
A carbanion formed by 3 membered or 4 memebered ring are more stable than acyclic counterpart. Why ?
The C-H bond in the strained cycles has more s-character and thus lower energy. Occurrence of negative charge on the lower energy orbital is more preferable, hence the stability of such carbanions is higher.
