Answer to Question #99507 in Inorganic Chemistry for Asif Sultan

Question #99507
For a reaction X + 2Y ------> Z . The amount of Z formed by stating the reaction with 5 moles of X and 8 moles of Y.
Expert's answer

X + 2Y ------> Z

That means 5 moles of X will need 10 moles of Y to completely react with.  But we do not have that much moles of Y.

Now 8 moles of Y will be requiring 4 moles of X to completely react with.

Now, as 2 moles of Y gives 1 mole of Z, 8 moles of Y will give 4 moles of Z

or we can say that 1 mole of X gives 1 mole of Z.

So 4 moles of X will give 4moles of Z.
