Lead in acids does not dissolve

Concentrated hydrochloric acid, especially when heated, easily dissolves tin

Sn + 4HCl = H2[SnCl4] + H2

m(Sn) = 0.6 x 100 = 60 gram


119 gram/mol Sn – 4 mol HCl

60 gram Sn – x mol HCl

x = 2.02 mol HCl


m(HCl) = n(HCl) x M(HCl) = 2.02 mol x 36.5 g/mol = 73.73 g


35 g HCl – 100 g solution

73.73 g HCl – x g solution

x = 210.66 g
