Answer to Question #69686 in Inorganic Chemistry for Robin

Question #69686
Hi, I have been given impure malachite and I need to create CuO. I don't know what other components are present, probably silica, some aluminum, and maybe sulfates. I know just heating pure malachite should give me CuO, but how do I separate the CuO from other components. I was thinking dissolving in acetic acid, boiling it off to get copper acetate, and then heating the copper acetate to get back to CuO. But I I'm not sure how much CuO will dissolve in acetic acid. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

Malachite can contain various elements of SiO2 P2O5 CaO and metals. In order to obtain pure CaO, it is necessary to know what is contaminated by a small hit
