Answer to Question #27154 in Inorganic Chemistry for Noura

Question #27154
What's the differance betweem the double bond in Ethene and the double bond between P=O in P4O6 .. Please answer with accuracy and clearly. Thanks!
Expert's answer
The only difference is that the double bond in ethylene, C=C non-polarcovalent. Ie the electron density is evenly distributed between two neighboring atoms of carbon.

P4O6 in the relationship between phosphorus and oxygen has polar covalentnature, due to which its chemical and physical properties will be dramatically different.
