Answer to Question #26486 in Inorganic Chemistry for mike

Question #26486
sulphur mixed with hydrogen sulphide what is result.
Expert's answer
Nothing will happen if sulfur is mixed with hydrogen sulphide, but if sulfur is mixed with Na2S and heated we'll have according to the equation

nS + Na2S = Na2S(n+1)

And if the acid is added

Na2S(n+1) + 2HA = 2NaA + H2S(n+1)

where H2S(n+1) is hydrogen polysulphide
