A solution is a mixture of one substance dissolved in another so the properties
are the same throughout. A solution is composed of a solute and the solvent.

A solution is a homogeneous mixture, consisting of two or more substances. Not only can a solution be liquid, it can also be a solid or gaseous.

Heterogeneous solutions do not have the same composition through out the solution while homogeneous solutions have the same composition through out the solution.
