Fischer carbene is a type of metal-carbon compound having a weak pi back bonding while Schrock carbene is a type of metal-carbon compound having a strong covalent back bonding, so Schrock carbenes are more stable. It is due to a fact that Fischer carbenes are formed from singlet state while Schrock carbenes are formed from triplet state.
